Start! 3 Empowering Things To Do Today To Change Your Life!

Want to Change Your Life? Want to start EMPOWERING yourself TODAY?

Two words.

Two small, simple words.

Just start.

That’s it.

Yes, it’s that simple. Read it again.

But there’s a little more to it.  Here’s HOW to make it count and work it to CHANGE YOUR LIFE…  Here’s the key..

Empowered Independence – Empowering Your Kids

Independence. Empowered.

The pinnacle pillar of our great nation.

It’s Empowering, after all, isn’t it?

And teaching your kids the significance of the holiday also empowers them.

There’s so many great things to do for families and kids this time of year.  And this holiday was jam-packed with excitement!!

Fireworks, pool parties, parades, cook-outs were just part of it. This year my kids learned about building a business.

Especially with this…

Superwoman’s Cape Is Now Her StraightJacket – Empower The Cape

SUPERWOMAN’S CAPE IS NOW HER STRAIGHTJACKET — EMPOWER THE CAPE
By: Maria Luce
See, here’s how it happens. She thought she could do it. And do it ALL.But then when she tried to fly and:

SUPERWOMAN GOT HER CAPE WRAPPED AROUND HER NECK.

Time to use your vast array of SUPER-POWERS and EMPOWER YOURSELF.

How many times do you find yourself slipping into the dreaded “I-have-to-be-Superwoman” thinking?  Must do it all, must be perfect, and must look good doing it.  — Oh!  And smile… Yes, THAT thinking.  Ever find yourself there?

Yea, don’t.

That cape of yours you think is so darn cute and – not to mention – you look incredible HOT and SEXY in — no, it’s actually like 4 sizes too small, is SO antiquated and idiotic – it’s reminiscent of the corset… and remember, women PASSED OUT and nearly died from those whale-bones-disguised-as-fashion.

Same thing with the Superwoman cape.  Screw the cape, I say.

The REAL Superwoman gets help!  No, not mental help. (Though, some superheroes have been seen slipping into the nearest padded room with the cape magically transformed into a straightjacket.)

The REAL SUPERWOMEN have MIGHTY POWERS:  here it is…..  ready?

So You Have a Blog, Now What? Critical Info You Need To Know.

So You Want To Talk Empowered?

I packed the hubbs on a plane to Kansas City and off we went this past weekend to figure out this whole bloggy thing I have been doing for several weeks.  It’s about time, huh?

We went to something called WordCamp KC. WordCamps are community organized meetings for users of WordPress – the blogging platform that I use.  The Organizers, Jacob McDaniel, Josepha Haden and Val Bontrager compiled their thoughts, ideas, and flawlessly executed a WordCamp the first time they tried it.  All of these folks are pretty cool people I quickly found out.  One of the brightest people at the conference was Syed Balhis – a 20 something kid that appears to have forgotten  more about blogging than I have learned.  Very fun and entertaining presenter as well.

Wasn’t really sure what was going to happen at this so-called WordCamp.  Having never been to one – I thought here I go – just put myself out there and see what sticks.  I was really impressed.

Sure there were a bunch of tech geeks at the thing.  But Jacob and Josepha did a great job keeping the content people separated from the developers.  And that allowed the novices like me to learn a bunch of new stuff.

So here it is – what I learned at (Word) Camp this week:

Should You Stay At Home When Your Kids Are Older?

Meredith Viera

Meredith Vieira recently announced she will be leaving the TODAY anchor chair to spend more time with her husband and college-aged children.

When a woman at the top of her profession with older children exits the office for a career slow-down or hiatus, some people scratch their heads – why now? Don’t kids need their moms less as they get older?

If you’ve been reading this blog for any length of time, you know I am agnostic when it comes to what Moms should do.  It is UP TO YOU! A Stay-at-home Mom works just as much as a Working Mom (outside the home).  One of the reasons I started this blog was to get information like this out there.  In this piece, Alexa Aguilar makes some interesting points that I want to share.

Empowered Mom’s Day: Amy Poehler, Tina Fey on Working Moms

Happy (almost) Mother’s Day! Two very funny women have been in the news lately for their take on working motherhood:

–Comedian Amy Poehler, at the Time 100 dinner for influential people, gave a shout-out to those often unheralded people who make many of our lives possible: child-care workers:

I have thought very hard and long about what has influenced me over the past couple of years, and since I have been at this dinner in 2008, I have given birth to two boys and I’ve left Saturday Night Live and I started my own TV show, and it’s been a crazy couple of years, and I thought who besides Madam Secretary Clinton and Lorne Michaels have influenced me? And it was the women who helped me take care of my children. It is Jackie Johnson from Trinidad and it is Dawa Chodon from Tibet, who come to my house and help me raise my children. And for you working women who are out there tonight who get to do what you get to do because there are wonderful people who help you at home, I would like to take a moment to thank those people, some of whom are watching their children right now, while you’re at this event. Those are people who love your children as much as you do, and who inspire them and influence them and on behalf of every sister and mother and person who stands in your kitchen and helps you love your child, I say thank you and I celebrate you tonight. The Empowered Mom (Maria Luce)- In Action ON CAMERA! Take A Look!

TV is in my blood – Anchor, reporter, spokesperson. Yep, been there, did it – for years.

Still do. It’s kinda like my drug.

Look, here’s the deal:  I’m simply “at home” in front of a camera or a live audience!  LOVE LOVE LOVE it.

And SO many of you have been asking when it will debut – and since video/TV will be a key aspect of The Empowered Mom – I thought I’d let you see a bit.

We are soon unfolding that aspect of The Empowered Mom TV on the main page of the site but thought I’d show you this here.
