So, here’s the deal.
Life happens. And so do the daily mundane tasks.
Frankly, give me the dirty dishes. The picking up toys. The backpacks, shoes, baseballs, superhero figures on the floor. I mean, even let me step on a a bed of Legos barefoot.
But this.
My nemesis.
It haunts me daily.
It taunts me daily.
And yet. It lives – no, it breeds and multiplies. In, like, dozens or some algebraic formula that equals X+this=UGH!
And the socks – they mock.
Laughing at us – right along with the remote, the leftover container lids, the ponytail bands and the other shoe. I’d like to be at THAT party.
But for now, this beckons:
Yep. Laundry.
We all have dirty laundry. (That’s an entirely different post – along the lines of “Skeletons in the Closet” and “Thank God There were no Cellphones & Videos When I Was Young and Dumb”).
For now, I remain grateful.
For the celebration of mismatched socks.
For understanding the priority of TIME with my kids. (Right next to the laundry basket. Even when we have to dig through it for “the” shirt they “have” to wear immediately).
For knowing the laundry can wait, time with our kids can’t.
