The Myth of Doing It All

I’ve been doing lots of reading lately.  I’m studying what makes some of these mom blogs so successful.  And along the way I am finding some that I really like.  It’s interesting that I’m drawn to original, well written content.  Some of it so good, I want to share them with you.

Let’s start with Mom-101.  This is a great site that many of you may already read. Liz is a great writer who I have enjoyed reading for some time.  And she has a great new post I think you should read:

The Myth of Doing It All

When you ask a working mom about how she does it all, it either puts her in the position to say something disparaging about herself (check) or deliver an answer that makes the questioner feel somehow inadequate for doing less.

Get Uncorked! The Bubbly Gives Back.

Get “Uncorked”!

Get this.  Bubbles. Bubbles. Everywhere.  We taste a variety of the Bubbly. We celebrate a birthday party. And we’re giving back to a great cause!

BUH-RILLIANT!!

We are crazy about Dallas Uncorked, and joined in the sparkle and fizz at last night’s  Dallas Uncorked 7th Birthday Champagne Celebration.

Running the show at Dallas Uncorked, our great friends – and chief cork-poppers –  Hayley Hamilton and Gary Cogill.

So many champagne corks were popping you’d think we’d fallen into a butter-seduced coma from a movie theater.  In truth, the fizz, fun and festivities took place at The Wine Therapist.

Rockin’ It “Most Beautiful.” Empowered Beauty.

How do YOU define beauty?  What makes someone beautiful?

The answer to that changes constantly.  But one thing is for sure – The Empowered Mom knows “beautiful” starts from within. It’s only reflected and displayed on the outside.  Perfect features are eclipsed by fear and doubt.  Self-confidence is the sexiest thing going!!

Face it though, some people did get lucky when it comes to DNA.  They struck it rich in the gene pool – and the proof is in the photos.

People magazine’s annual Most Beautiful People list was released this morning – and sure enough – there are beauties galore.  Topping the list…

Jennifer Lopez takes the honor.  This is the 11th time she’s been on the list.

Painting Your SON’S Nails Pink. What Do YOU Think??

So put this under the heading, “What Were They Thinking?”

It began when a photo of J. Crew’s president and creative director, Jenna Lyons, painting the toenails of her son Beckett in an ad, was sent to customers last week in a feature, “Saturday with Jenna.”

Jenn says, “Lucky for me I ended up with a boy whose favorite color is pink,” and says, “Toenail painting is way more fun in neon.”

This sparked a firestorm of debate regarding gender identity.

Unfinished. Here’s Why YOU Should Be!!

So here’s how this works, and you can probably relate… I get these brilliant ideas for a story, or a story idea — even a tidbit of juiciness–sparks of creativity—glimpses of genius—and I race to capture them.  Before they race away into the vast recesses of my grey matter.

So I have probably oh, I don’t know, 27 posts ‘pending’.  27 drafts. Works in ‘progress’.

This might bother a sane mind.

It would bother my insane mind if IDIDN’T have a bunch of inspiration to work with.  Cuz, Baby, you gotta strike while the iron is hot, the sparks are flying, guns are blazin’….  and ya gotta fit it in somewhere between the phone calls, the emails, the kids throwing toys across the room, and pouring yourself another glass a wine.

One of those juicy tidbits of mine was called, “Unfinished.”

Here’s all it said:

Are You CRAZY?! Yes! Greatest Person of The Day!!

Are you Crazy? Get CrazyWithACause ! Once homeless and hungry herself,  Cheryl “Action” Jackson has been named Greatest Person Of The Day!
